Covered Bridge Cabinetry uses the finest grades of North American hardwoods to manufacture doors, drawer fronts, face frames and internal components. The utmost care is taken to grade material according to each customers selection and finish specifications. Door insert panels and drawer front insert panels use random staves. Machined areas will have minimal amounts of natural characteristics typical for the wood species ordered. We offer a selection of four different grades of each wood species to fit your specific design needs and budget.
WOOD SPECIES
RED OAK
Natural
Natural Red Oak is a strong, open-grained wood that has a range in color of white, yellow and pink. Red Oak is sometimes streaked with green, yellow and black mineral deposits and may contain some wide grain. Pin Knots are common in this species and wood grade.

Rustic
Rustic Red Oak allows for many variations. Mineral, Sap Wood and Knots are common. Color ranges from white, gray, brown, red and black tones. No visible light will be seen through knots.
Paint

MAPLE
Natural
Natural Hard Maple is a strong, close-grained wood that is predominantly off-white in color, although it also contains light hues of yellow-brown and pink. Hard Maple occasionally contains light tan or small dark mineral streaks.

CHERRY
Natural
Natural Cherry is an elegant, multi-colored hardwood, which may contain small knots, pinholes and pitch pockets. Natural or light stains accent these color variations making a distinctive statement in a full kitchen. Cherry wood will darken or “mellow” with age. This mellowing is a natural occurrence and the benefit of owning a Cherry kitchen.

Natural Alder is a medium density hardwood with a fine, moderate grain pattern. The predominant heartwood varies in color from medium or dark brown to reddish brown. Pin knots and Pin Knot clusters are common in this species and wood grade.

Natural Poplar (Paint Grade Hardwood) is a medium density hardwood with a fine, moderate grain pattern. The predominant sapwood color is white to creamy yellow, while the heartwood varies in color from green, medium or dark brown to reddish brown.

Select Poplar natural characteristics found within this grade will be scrutinized more closely than the natural wood species. This grade is strongly recommended for natural finishes. Select Poplar will have a mix of green and white colors which are predominant for this species…it is a “Select Mixed” grade.
